Surgical robots to assist healthcare professionals
Distalmotion's robotic platform Dexter is in daily clinical use in Europe and is successfully treating patients in many complex and high-volume procedures in general surgery, gynecology and urology. This investment will help the platform gain US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval and continue the acceleration of clinical trials in Europe. Dexter makes robotic surgery more accessible, opening it up to a wider range of uses. Dexter can be easily integrated into clinical practice. It can adapt to any clinical environment and can be easily shared between departments. Thanks to these features, institutions can scale their robotic programs across surgical disciplines, offering an improved standard of care to more patients in both hospital and OR settings.
Dexter makes surgical procedures easier by providing what surgeons need most, when it matters most. In the first general surgery procedure performed at Lausanne University Hospital in 2021, Prof. Dieter Hahnloser, head of colorectal surgery, performed complex surgical steps such as suturing, dissection and working in confined spaces thanks to the enhanced dexterity offered by Dexter. Surgeons can choose best-in-class tools and technologies for each step. Dexter is compatible with all 3D laparoscopes, allowing to take advantage of current and future imaging innovations.
