Duolingo
Duolingo has shown that it can generate significant revenue streams by expanding into several ancillary projects beyond language learning. The company also launched Duolingo ABC, a free app focused on English literacy for children aged 3-6 during the pandemic. In October 2022, a company announced a math app called Duolingo Math. This app is free, similar to the language learning app, and requires arriving at answers using methodical thinking skills and functions.
Learning a language, like music, is a skill that requires nuances and context, while math requires focus to provide correct answers or formulas. Duolingo Math sits pedagogically in the middle of these two skills. These new projects present significant opportunities that could increase Duolingo's revenue potential.
According to a report by TechCrunch, Duolingo has posted a job listing for a music learning scientist and music composition/curriculum consultant. The company has also reportedly hired someone for the consulting position for now. According to the job postings, the goal could be to teach users the basic concepts of music theory using popular songs.
