Adobe is getting into the productive AI game with the launch of a new family of AI models called Firefly. Firefly, which focuses on bringing AI to Adobe’s suite of apps and services, specifically AI for media content creation, will consist of multiple AI models that “work across a variety of different use cases.” According to the information we have, this is how Firefly is described.
Features of Firefly
This is the platform Adobe introduced in Photoshop, Express and Lightroom at the annual Max conference last year. It’s an expansion of generative AI tools that allow users to create and edit objects, compositions and effects just by identifying them. Adobe has raced to keep pace as enthusiasm around the technology has grown, for example by allowing contributors to sell AI-generated drawings in the content marketplace.
Firefly is the next step in our AI journey. It brings together our new ‘gentech’ models with decades of investment in imaging, typography, illustration and more to produce assets. We will bring this value to our customers’ workflows where content is created in Creative Cloud, Experience Cloud and Document Cloud.Costin
As it exists today, in beta and without firm pricing, Firefly offers a single model designed to create images and text effects from annotations. The model, developed using hundreds of millions of photos, will soon be able to create content in Adobe applications such as Express, Photoshop, Illustrator and Adobe Experience Manager when given a text prompt. (For now, you will need to visit a website to use it.)
Adobe’s first Firefly model, beyond basic text-to-image rendering, can “import” different styles into existing images in Prisma. It can also apply styles or textures to text and fonts, drawing on descriptions provided by the user. Adobe says that the image created using Firefly models will contain metadata indicating that it was created in part or in whole by artificial intelligence. This is a practical as well as legal consideration. ‘
‘With Firefly, anyone who creates content, regardless of experience or talent, will be able to use their own words to create content the way they envision it.’ Firefly comes with the full assurance that all artists will be taken care of to the best of the firm’s abilities. Moreover, the company says it is currently beta-testing its productive AI products.
