Scriptic Secures $8.2 Million in Total Funding This Year
This financing round was led by Bitkraft Ventures and included investors such as Amazon Alexa Fund and Tower 26. In total, Scriptic has secured $8.2 million in funding. This shows that creative AI is a popular trend in the mobile gaming industry. Scriptic previously received $2.5 million in seed round funding from Vgames and Moonfire, as well as $2.5 million from Twitch co-founder Kevin Lin and Unity founder David Helgason. Scriptic is best known for its game Scriptic: Crime Stories. This game was re-released on Netflix Games in 2022. A phone-centric crime drama, the game allows viewers to interact with a compartmentalized story. Players try to solve a murder by analyzing text message conversations, voice recordings, surveillance videos, and other elements on the victim's phone.
Scriptic is a London-based production studio founded in 2018 by CEO Nihal Tharoor and chief creative officer Benedict Tatham. The company is also leveraging other AI tools such as Midjourney, Runway Gen-2, ElevenLabs and Murf.ai to combine text, images, video and audio. He also emphasized that "human creators" use these tools as a source of creative inspiration.
Tharoor, the company's CEO, said in a statement that they founded Scriptic to entertain the world with stories that reflect our ever-changing digital lives. Tharoor also emphasized that they work with a highly talented creative team. He also said that by combining their technological infrastructure and advanced generative AI technologies, they enable us to create immersive stories designed specifically for the most interactive medium: phones. Tharoor added that this funding will help Scriptic realize its vision of "becoming the Roblox of narrative." According to the company, the custom Scriptic app has organically grown to 1.5 million users on Android and iOS devices.
