McDonald's Creates Wallpapers to Boost Digital Donations
In Taiwan, the uniform invoice is not only used to document payments and business transactions. They are also used to document chances of winning the lottery. Each receipt people receive after making a purchase represents a ticket to enter the Taiwanese government's voucher lottery, with prizes ranging from NT$200 to NT$10 million. People can keep the paper receipt or donate it in donation boxes in stores across the country. While the donation receipt is an important source of income for charities, with the rise of digital payments, most paper digital receipts are disappearing.
In order to increase donations to charity, the partnership aims to create 35 cell phone wallpaper designs, each with a barcode. According to the information received, when the bill is scanned at any cashier, it will be automatically donated to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).
According to McDonald's, RMHC has seen a 190 percent growth in online giving and a 125 percent increase in engagement since the launch of the donation wallpaper. According to the information received, more wallpapers with different designs will be released throughout the year.
