Netflix has stated that it is still early days for its mobile gaming efforts and that new games could take years to create. This suggests that its long-term vision for mobile gaming goes far beyond the more casual game streaming it has been offering subscribers since its launch. Let's talk about the data reported in August. It showed that 1.7 million daily users were playing Netflix games. That's less than 1 percent of the streaming subscriber base. Netflix is focused on increasing this number and establishing itself as a real player in the gaming world. In October, Netflix VP of Gaming Mike Verdu announced that Netflix had opened a new studio in Southern California and was also venturing into cloud gaming. Since then, Netflix has also acquired Spry Fox, a Seattle-based independent game studio focused on casual gaming.
