Aonic has acquired UK-based virtual reality games publisher and developer nDreams in a $110 million deal. It will further advance Aonic's position in the VR games market. It will add nDreams to a stable market already home to UK-based digital game and animation development studio Milky Tea and Germany's Exmox, a game-focused performance marketing network. In late March 2022, Aonic acquired a minority stake in nDreams with an investment of $35 million. This, in turn, helped nDreams acquire Brighton-based immersive gaming studio Near Light.

Aonic & nDreams
The company was founded in 2006 as a traditional gaming-orientated startup, but in 2013 it shifted its focus solely to VR games. Today, nDreams consists of around 195 developers working in four studios. It is responsible for popular games such as Little Cities, Synapse, Ghostbusters: Rise of the. Stockholm-based Aonic Group is, in its own words, "a video game family of development studios as well as game-related technology and service providers". Rather than managing a top-down organisation seen as a collection of portfolio companies, Aonic is decentralised. Aonic actively encourages creativity and progress through cross-pollination and knowledge sharing. It also has stakes in OtherSide Entertainment, owned by industry legend Warren Spector, and Quebec-based game developer Bkom Studios.
