US-based Sierra Nevada is a technology company specializing in commercial orbital transportation, nanotechnology, space systems, microsatellites, tele-medicine and energy. The company, a systems integrator and electronic systems provider, was founded in Nevada in 1963. Sierra Nevada was acquired in 1994 by Eren Özmen and Fatih Özmen, who are of Turkish origin. Fatih Özmen, one of the company's partners, has an extensive engineering background.
He graduated from the University of Reno with a master's degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1981, he joined SNC. The company's business areas are located in 16 states and 30 different centers, globally and regionally. Sierra Nevada was among the three companies selected by NASA. The company employs 3000 people. The company, which consists of six different business areas, aims to develop commercial personnel transportation capability to fly astronauts into low earth orbit.,

Sierra Nevada Studies
Sierra Nevada delivers the first A-29 Super Tucano aircraft to the United States Air Force. The company participated in the US Air Force Light Air Support and Afghanistan military procurement Light Air Support (LAS) Program contract. Sierra Nevada also developed a wide area surveillance sensor called Gorgon Stare. The company provides solutions in aerospace, electronic warfare, national security and command. It finds precise solutions to the world's most challenging aerospace problems.
The U.S.-based company has also been instrumental in helping the State of Colorado operationalize two Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMAs). It signed a contract with the Department of Public Safety, Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) on July 23, 2014. Sierra Nevada started to work in the ISR business area Fire Prevention Colorado Division within the scope of this contract. The company flew in a demonstration of the MEDEVAC unit of the Nevada Army National Guard. The company holds the rights to Dornier aircraft. Especially in 2015, when Turkey announced its own Turkish regional jet project, the Dornier aircraft, for which Sierra has the rights, came to the agenda.
The US-based aerospace technology startup is currently developing a reusable fuselage-carried space plane called Dream Chaser. On February 1, 2010, the company received $20 million in NASA Commercial Crew Development (CCDev) Program Step 1 funding to develop the Dream Chaser.
