Successful Turkish game company Spyke Games received an investment of 55 million dollars in the first round of financing. Aiming to bring a new dimension to casual games by using multiplayer functionality and other social elements, the game company is now closer to its dreams.
Spyke Games received a pre-seed investment of $5 million at a valuation of $25 million from Griffin Gaming Partners in February 2021. The company released its first game, Royal Riches, for Android and iOS a few months ago. Griffin's previous investments include initiatives related to the mobile gaming industry such as Discord, AppLoving, N3twork and Skillz.
Spyke Games Receives Million Dollar Seed Investment
The seed investment Spyke Games has received is a huge amount for a startup round in any country. The investment indicates a large amount for the initial tour of any country, as in Turkey. However, when it comes to attracting investment, it is useful to underline how much has developed in the country. As a reference point; When Peak was bought by Zynga for $1.8 billion, it had raised only $19 million in 10 years.
The most striking point is that Spyke Games collected this investment before launching anything. The company has released its first game, Royal Riches, in a limited edition and will launch globally this month.
Part of the reason for the company's strong investor interest lies in the co-founders and their partner histories. Co-founder and CEO Rina Onur Şirinoğlu was also the founding partner and chief product officer at Peak; COO Remi Onur was previously Peak's head of design; CPO Barkin Başaran was a senior product manager at both Peak and Zynga, CTO Fuat Coşkun was Peak's engineering director; and CMO Mithat Madra was an executive at Riot Games, among other places.
In his statements on the subject, Industry and Technology Minister Mustafa Varank said, “The Turkish game industry, whose games are played by billions of people, continues to grow day by day. Proud of our entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.” used the expressions.
