SpaceX CEO Elon Musk announced that the company's satellite internet service Starlink would be going Nationwide in USA during the October 2021. Previously, Musk mentioned that Starlink's beta phase would also be over sometime in October. A Twitter used asked Musk about this, which prompted a response from the CEO. https://twitter.com/elonmusk/status/1446125039447777282?s=20 This news mean that SpaceX will probably continue to launch more Starlink satellites in the near future. Although scientists argue that these satellites make space harder to observe, it looks like the company will continue with its plans. Starlink says on its Web site that during its beta service, the speeds could range from 50Mb/s to 150Mb/s. The latency, on the other hand, could be between 40ms and 20ms. Queues are also an issue. If you are living in an area full of Starlink users, expect some wait time. Unlike the traditional landline internet, the service also has a total bandwidth that decreases witch each user added to the network. This means that the network can only hold so many, before the experience downgrades. Starlink currently has over 100,000 users globally. There is also the question of "nationwide". Internet analysis company Oookla's data shows that Starlink already works in most US states. However there are still a lot of areas with no coverage. It is going to be really interesting to see what this nationwide expansion will be about. In an another tweet, Musk added: “Starlink is designed for low to medium population density, which means we can hit max users in some areas fast. Please sign up early to ensure a spot. As more satellites roll out, SpaceX will be able to serve more.”
