In late October, we saw Xiaomi launch 210W mobile charging technology through its Redmi sub-brand. It was surpassed in early February by Oppo and a 240W version from Realme, part of the OnePlus family. Xiaomi was also quick to respond with a massive 300W demo that reduced charging time to just under five minutes, almost half of the two aforementioned achievements. Xiaomi said that this new 300W charger is a better modular design. And that it comes in the same size as its previous 210W counterpart.

'Phone that can fully charge in 5 minutes'
Here you see it in the video. The phone reached 20 percent in just over a minute. Then it reached 50 percent in 2 minutes and 12 seconds, and then 100 percent in just under 5 minutes. The battery here packs more powerful 15C cells made of new carbon materials, reducing the thickness of the electrodes by 35 percent, the company said.
Combined with an improved electrolyte formula, this lithium-ion battery can deliver a higher power density with a faster charge and discharge rate. And all the while visibly reducing the amount of heat generated in the process. These ultra-thin cells are then stacked with thermal materials between them as part of a new design to optimize heat dissipation while making better use of internal space. When it comes to safety, Xiaomi claimed that there are more than 50 features built into the system to keep track of current, voltage and temperature on each charging chip.
Xiaomi's announcement is certainly another milestone for the mobile industry. However, the company did not mention whether this 300W charging technology will be mass-produced. Meanwhile, Xiaomi also did not share figures on charging cycles, reminding us how battery life can be affected by higher charging power.
